Chris Brown's Drake Diss

It’s been about two weeks since the infamous fight between Drake and Chris Brown at club W.i.P.  While all parties kind of denied involvement and pointed fingers at everybody else…the tension is still thick. Meek Mill and Rihanna have stayed out of it, while Wayne wants Drake to call a truce because it’s bad for business.  Welp, that’s wishful thinking. Breezy decides to take it to the booth to discuss his feelings about Drake over Chief Keef’s infectious “I Don’t Like.”

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Chris Brown strikes first with a diss track as wack as Wayne’s response to Pusha T. Chris Brown has rapped better on mixtapes, his own records, or even features.  But at least he said SOMETHING.  Got to respect the fact that he let it be known he was talking directly to Drake and no one else.  Will Drake respond directly or even at all? I doubt it, he will just say Breezy is trying to “reach just to sell his records.”

It's About To Be A Bar Fight!!!

Ain’t no love in the Heart of the City.  That was the case Thursday morning in NYC at club WiP. A huge fight broke out in the VIP section involving Drake, Meek Mill, and Chris Brown. The pictures of the aftermath include smashed bottles everywhere, a couple of injured patrons, and Chris Brown with a minor (but ugly) scar on his chin.  There’s numerous reports circling around and all parties are claiming that they were not involved in the fight. Tweets have been deleted since the altercation; Chris Brown and Meek Mill have called a truce; but as for Chris Brown and Drake…they are still at odds. Rumor has it that all of this started because Drake was talking out the side of his neck to Chris Brown about Rihanna.

Wait a minute!

Nobody will admit it but all of this IS over Rihanna. Not misplaced features, record sales, or even money. It’s all over too much testosterone in one place, and three men being (at one time or another) involved with the same woman.  Young, wild, and free young men surrounded by their instigating entourages and things got out of control. No word if any of the three celebrities actually laid hands on each other, but it’s getting messy. Chris Brown and Drake have been cooperating with the police; we all know Chris Brown can’t afford any run-ins with the law because he is still on probation.  When will these guys stop trying to “be about that life?” 

Oh yeah and not to mention the price of fame: guarantee with the innocent people like Hollie C hurt, there will be lawsuits in the near future. 

Raz B Outs More Male Artists

Raz B is back in the news again trying to “out” more male artists.  Several passages of Raz B’s new tell-all book, This Boy’s Life, has leaked to the internet where he takes shots at several artist and calls them gay.  Right now he has named Chris Brown, Ray J, Bow Wow and Omarion; and plans to give details on their sexual encounters. 

This is not the first time Raz B has made accusations about someone’s sexuality.  Back in 2010 he shook the music industry up by confessing that his former manager Chris Strokes and Marques Houston molested him when he was a part of B2k.  Also, that same year Chris Brown and Raz B got into a homophobic twitter war that entertained and offended a lot of people.  This time Raz B decided to take his snitching talents to a book which is set to release in September.

What in the Confessions of a Video Vixen is this?

I blame Superhead Karrine Steffans.  Ever since she made her millions from outing the freaks in the music industry, everybody has used this tactic as an easy come-up.  Snitching just to get attention is just…well…golddigger-ish!  Ever since B2k broke up Raz-B has been crying foul on everybody.  Even if all these people are gay, it’s their life.  If they want to walk around like they’re not gay for the sake of their image, that’s their choice.  I’m not saying that Raz B’s accusations have no merit but he always pulls this stunt at convenient times.  Omarion just signed to Maybach Music Group, Bow Wow’s [Underrated] album is set to release in June, and Chris Brown is back on top performing at the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards and more.  Not to mention Chris Brown’s [Fortune] album is set to release in July. 

Chris Brown is upset about the accusations and has released a statement via twitter.  Wonder if anybody else will respond? Raz B seriously needs a hug man. Stay tuned to watch this mess unfold.  

Chris Brown disses his Ex in new Freestyle

And the saga continues with Chris Brown and Rihanna.  The media is obsessed with these two and it doesn’t help when they intentionally do things to get the media’s attention.  Rumors have been rapid since Chris Brown and Rihanna decided to collaborate on the Birthday Cake Remix and Turn Up The Music Remix.  Though Turn Up The Music’s remix was pretty wack, the Birthday Cake remix was like soft porn on wax.  It was clear that the two were flirting and reminiscing on what they used to have…but for the sake of good music.  Following the release of the tracks, Rihanna took the world by surprise with complementing Chris Brown saying he’s “the hottest artist out” and that’s why she chose to work with him again.

It was all good a week ago!

Chris Brown recently released what appears to be a diss track aimed at Rihanna. Although, Chris Brown denies these allegations it’s really apparent.  In turn, Rihanna decided to unfollow Chris Brown on Twitter. 

First of all…

What grade are we in again? How old are we? The easiest way to hurt someone’s feelings nowadays is to unfollow them on twitter.  People do this stuff on purpose because people take it personally.  But really?

Secondly…we easily assume that the track is about Rihanna but Chris has been with a couple of women after Rihanna.  He dated Draya Michele (star of Basketball Wives LA) who is a known groupie/jumpoff.  She has been with numerous rappers and athletes, causing her name to always be attached to something scandalous.  He has also slept around with video vixens and strippers so who knows which “ex” he is talking about.  I’m not taking up for Chris Brown at all…all I’m saying is let’s not add fuel to the fire because we all know how that could turn out??? I’m just saying.

The Underdogs

For some odd reason when it comes to music I always love to fight for the underdog.  You know… the artists that people look over or don’t even consider “hot.”  You know as well as I do that in the music industry artists are only relevant as their last hit.  This is especially true for artists that enter the music industry at a young age.  Child stars have it hard because they grow up in the spotlight and their music always corresponds to their age.  The problem lies when the artists become legal: their image usually changes and so does the subject matter in their songs.  In turn, their audience either likes the shift or writes the artists off. 

Bow Wow and Yung Berg are two artists that are the ultimate underdogs in today’s music industry.  Although they have gained other talents over the years (Bow Wow acting and Yung Berg producing), being an artist is their first love.  They struggle to remain relevant or to even be taken serious as a rapper.  They both enjoyed success during their teenage years under the wings of Jermaine Dupri and DMX, but when they chose to step out on their own there was a disconnect from their audience.  Bow Wow and Yung Berg both had successful singles but audiences wrote them off as trying too hard or pretending to be something that they’re not. 

Bow Wow and Yung Berg might not receive mainstream love but all of their mixtapes are FIRE!  Both of these guys are not lyrical geniuses but they are not Lil B and Soulja Boy neither!  The production that Bow Wow and Yung Berg use on some of their mixtapes makes it sound more like an album.  Also, besides trash talking, Bow Wow and Yung Berg always manage to drop at least one introspective track per mixtape.  Either way; here are a few tracks from the underdogs that I think you should check out.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards

Let’s just start out and give the crew of the Grammys a round of applause for all of their hard work and effort.  I know receiving news that Whitney died the night before the Grammys must have rocked their world.  Putting the Grammys together is no easy task, but having to incorporate a tribute in 24 hours..whew…commendable!

There are so many highlights on the Grammys. Bruce Springsteen kicked off the show in true Rock & Roll style; that is how you open up a show! Bruno Mars followed; surprising the hell out of me with his performance. He is a great singer and songwriter, but what a hell of a performance. He danced and sang live, and he managed to keep the crowd entertained…true pop star. Other incredible performances include Foster of the People with Maroon 5 and The Beach Boys, and Coldplay and Rihanna. I knew Rihanna had some moves, but she really impressed me with her dancing and choreographed routine. The illumination of Coldplay’s set was fantastic; eye catching at the very least…and the vocals of Chris Martin leave Rihanna’s yodeling in the dust! And speaking of yodeling, that’s what Taylor Swift usually does when she performs live. Not this time, Taylor made such a statement in her own little quirky way: take that Kanye! (Side note: I like a lot of Taylor’s music).

There were some misses though. As talented that Chris Brown is, his performance was lackluster. We have seen Chris Brown sing and dance live plenty of times; I have no idea why he chose to lip sync. Was he channeling his inner Ashley Simpson? He jumped around on some blocks, did some typical (do not try this at home) Chris Brown moves and that was it. His set was full of rainbow colors and I liked that shout to the gay people, but still it left me wanting more. Oh, and let’s not forget Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt’s tribute to the late Etta James. The intent was good, but the performance was flat, dry, and not needed. Other misses, Lil Wayne’s outfit. Some college students aren’t allowed to wear pajama pants to class anymore, he should not be allowed to wear stupid outfits. And the ABSOLUTE WORST performance of the night belongs to Nicki Minaj! I thought that it couldn’t get any worse than her “Stupid Hoe” music video. Somewhere in Nicki’s twisted little mind, she thought it was a good idea to introduce the whole world to Roman via an exorcism….on live TV….at the Grammys. It was really a WTF moment, especially after such a fantastic, powerful, and simple tribute to Whitney Houston. Whitney was known to embrace all young artists, and I am pretty sure she would have been confused at the performance. As I blogged before I am always pro non-conformist and I dig expressionism; but seriously Nicki do better. I will never question her spirituality because it is not my place to. It was just too much. Know when to censor, know when less is more, know when it’s not always a good idea to think all the way out the box.  The only positive thing about her performance was that it was  great promo for her because it has the world talking. Mission accomplished?

Overall, the 54^th Annual Grammy Awards was great. Where else can you get such a diverse selection of great music and learn some new artist at the same time? I wonder what they will have in store next year. (Follow me @eyediditmyway)
